97.9 The Point is a radio station in the Black Hills that plays modern, positive hit music. We signed onto the air for the very first time on February 17, 2005. On April 2nd, 2007, we moved from 88.3 to 97.9 FM. Since the beginning, 97.9 The Point has been committed to playing hit music with a modern sound and a positive, encouraging message! We play artists like Switchfoot, Jeremy Camp, Third Day, The Fray, Lifehouse, and others.
 
97.9 The Point is a listener supported radio station. That means we rely on business supporters and listeners like you to meet our day-to-day budget.

Coverage Area
97.9 The Point broadcasts from the summit of Terry Peak in the Northern Black Hills of South Dakota with a power of 100,000 watts.  This excellent tower location allows our signal to extend into five states: South Dakota, Wyoming, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Montana.



Driving Directions
Driving Directions from I-90
1. In Rapid City, take the Deadwood Avenue exit (#55) off I-90.
2. Turn south (toward town) onto Deadwood avenue.
3. Turn left at the first light onto North Plaza Drive.
4. Follow North Plaza Drive to Fountain Plaza Drive. Turn right onto Fountain Plaza Drive. (Across from the Coca-Cola plant)
5. Our building is about three blocks down Fountain Plaza Drive on the right side.

 

Driving Directions from Downtown Rapid City
1. Follow Omaha Street west past the Mountain View Road intersection.
2. Across from United Blood Services, exit Omaha Street right onto Deadwood Avenue.
3. Follow Deadwood Ave through several intersections to North Plaza Drive.
4. Just past Rapid Chevrolet, turn right onto North Plaza Drive.
5. Follow North Plaza Drive to Fountain Plaza Drive. Turn right onto Fountain Plaza Drive. (Across from the Coca-Cola plant)
6. Our building is about three blocks down Fountain Plaza Drive on the right side.
