What is Mission Kenya?
From June 5th through June 16th, 2010, listeners from 5 radio stations and 2 regions headed to one destination - Kenya, Africa!
A team of 50 fellow believers (25 from each region) from Rapid City, South Dakota and Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin joined together in one mission, to reach out to children in need in Africa.
On this mission of mercy, participants got dirty, creative, and spiritual. Shortly after arrival, team members visited a home for abandoned babies to pray over and hold the infants on their long roads to recovery. The next day, the team travelled to the community of Malindi where they lent a hand in several light construction projects to better enable the Child Development Centers in this poor community to minster to children. At the same Centers, the team helped coordinate a vacation bible school for the children attending these amazing projects. Team members spent time with the children at the projects, sharing with them the love of Christ manifest through playing and personal attention. On Sunday, the team attended an African church where they worshipped and ministered to fellow Kenyan believers. Near the end of the week, the team spent some time at a beach and then shopped in the open markets to find a Kenyan treasure.
